Swimming standout lands with Illinois  (Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

For years, Crystal McAdam's mother pointed out her old college residence on family trips to Champaign-Urbana.

Now Karla McAdam, Class of '81, has reason to make regular stops at another spot on the Illinois campus: the IMPE Building. Starting next fall, her daughter will be a regular in the IMPE Pool as a member of Jim Lutz's Illini women's swim team.

Three Illinois swimmers and former Centennial standout Rachel Johnson combined to finish second this week in the U.S. 5K Open Water National Championships at Long Lake, Minn.

Adler, UI fare well at Classic  (Sunday, January 24, 1999)

CHAMPAIGN – Darcy Adler won her seventh consecutive 100-yard breaststroke to lead Illinois to first place at the Illini Classic swimming and diving meet Saturday.

Christiansen key for Illini swimmers  (Saturday, January 23, 1999)

CHAMPAIGN – Sophomore Anna Christiansen won twice as Illinois swept all six events Friday during the first day of the Illini Classic swimming and diving meet at IMPE.

Christiansen won the 500 freestyle in 4 minutes, 59.40 seconds and the 200 individual medley in a season-best 2:07.15.

Homenock, Illini swamp Hawkeyes  (Sunday, December 6, 1998)

Illinois started strong and didn't look back in beating Iowa in the second of a two-day meet Saturday at the IMPE pool.

The UI opened with a victory in the 400 medley relay, Kathy Kielty, Darcy Adler, Nicola Homenock and Emily Wang winning in 3 minutes, 54.05 seconds.

Emily Wang won the 200 freestyle and swam a leg on the winning 200 medley relay and 800 free relay teams Friday night as the Illinois women's swim team beat Iowa 120-66 at IMPE.

Christiansen paces UI swimmers  (Saturday, November 21, 1998)

Sophomore Anna Christiansen won the 200 freestyle and the 400 individual medley as Illinois defeated Oakland University 136-102 in a swimming and diving meet Friday in Rochester, Mich.

Backstroke record-breaker picks Illinois  (Thursday, November 5, 1998)

Jennifer Ochab, who broke a U.S. Junior Nationals Southeast record in August, has orally committed to the University of Illinois women's swimming program.

The Mundelein High School senior said Wednesday she'll make it official when the early signing period begins Nov. 11.
