Kelly Buszkiewicz had a goal and an assist and two goalies combined for 11 saves as the University of Illinois women's soccer team won its NCAA Division I debut 4-0 over Loyola of Chicago on Friday in St. Louis.

Erica Loechl made eight saves and Amy Bessette three for the Illini, who scored twice in each half. Loyola is a sixth-year program.

"It's only one game, but what this does is give us confidence," UI coach Jillian Ellis said. "We created some chances and we finished. It seemed everything we hit was magic."

Buszkiewicz scored the UI's first goal on an assist by Kimberly Fogelson. Sarah Aberle, Rachel Smith and Kris Twyning also scored.

The UI visits Quincy on Wednesday.
