A look at how Illinois basketball recruits, both men and women, are faring this season.

JOSEPH BERTRAND (Sterling) — Last Friday, Bertrand was held to two field goals, but converted 99 of 10 from the stripe to lead Sterling to a 56-47 win over Streator. The next night, Bertrand missed the potential game-winner at the buzzer as Rock Island beat the Golden Warriors 60-59. After traveling to Dixon on Friday, Sterling will face Centennial at the Assembly Hall Saturday night.

MEYERS LEONARD (Robinson) — Leonard had 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in a win over Effingham last Friday. Paris fell to the Maroons 67-45 Tuesday as Leonard poured in 14 points. Robinson hosts Salem Friday.  

BRANDON PAUL (Warren) —  Lake Forest took Warren to overtime Tuesday, but the Blue Devils outlasted Lake Forest and Michigan recruit Matt Vogrich 70-62. Paul scored 31 points to lead Warren. Next up is Chicago Curie at the Shootout at the Hall on Saturday.

D.J. RICHARDSON (Findlay Prep, Las Vegas, Nev.) — shot 5 of 9 from the floor as Findlay Prep bounced Montverde Academy 66-39 at the Marshall County Shootout last Saturday. Finday Prep stays in-state to face Desert Pines Thursday and Green Valley on Saturday.

JEREME RICHMOND (Waukegan) — scored 17 points as the undefeated Bulldogs defeated Glenbrook South 61-49 in the Central Suburban South opener. After a home game against Maine South Friday, an afternoon matchup with Rock Island at the Shootout at the Hall on Saturday is next.

CRANDALL HEAD (Crane) — finished with 17 points in a 56-44 victory over Payton Sunday at the Public League Shootout hosted by Chicago State. After torching Farragut for 16 points in the first half, Head was held to three points in the second half as Farragut upset Crane 58-53 Wednesday. Crane has a showdown with Peoria Central at the Shootout at the Hall Saturday.

TYLER GRIFFEY (Lafayette, Mo.) — was held to 15 points as Layfayette suffered their first loss of the season last Friday in the championship game of the Pattonville Tournament to St. Louis powerhouse McCluer 61-52. On tap is a Saturday contest against Memphis White Station (Tenn) featuring former Illinois recruiting target Joe Jackson.

ADRIENNE GODBOLD (Marshall) — Doubled up (20 points, 18 rebounds) Von Steuben as Marshall won 51-43 on Monday. Next up is Crane Tech on Friday.

BRIANNA JONES (Toledo Central Catholic, Ohio) —
Despite leading 23-12 after the first quarter, Central Catholic fell to Findlay 74-68 on Monday. Jones led Central Catholic with 20 points. Central Catholic roughed up Woodward 76-16 Wednesday. Saturday will see a home game against Northview.

KERSTEN MAGRUM (Lincoln-Way East) —  scored 25 points to go with eight rebounds as 5-1 Lincoln-Way East defeated Homewood-Flossmoor 51-35 last Thursday. Andrew was the next victim Tuesday as Magrum's 29 points and nine rebounds led Lincoln-Way East to a 53-31 win. After Thursday's matchup against Lincoln-Way North, the Griffins have the weekend off and will face Lincoln-Way Central on Tuesday.

AMBER MOORE (Detroit Country Day, Mich.) — scored 11 points in a hard-fought 36-25 win over Detroit Renaissance Saturday, then scored 12 as Country Day defeated Howell 62-43 on Tuesday. A marquee matchup against last year's Class C state champion Saginaw Nouvel at the Arthur Hill James Monroe Classic is on deck for Saturday.

KARISMA PENN (Shaker Heights, Ohio) — had 30 points as Shaker Heights thumped Beford 68-36 last Saturday. After playing Shaw on Thursday, Shaker Heights will face Lexington Catholic at the Kentucky Challenge.

DESTINY WILLIAMS (Benton Harbor, Mich.) — Will go up against Kalamazoo Central Saturday, then Lakeshore on Tuesday.
