Illini follow NCAA tournament from afar

This isn't where the Illinois players want to be, playing in the NIT. It was NCAA tournament-or-bust for these guys. Truth is, with their spring break starting today, some of them would rather be on a beach somewhere than preparing for Kent State's visit Monday. That's just the way it is.

Tony (Bleill), glad you appear to be objective about the Destiny Williams situation rather than placate Jolette Law. While Destiny might be portrayed as immature and a prima donna by some, the reality of her problems with Illinois women's basketball probably lies elsewhere. Foremost may be the firing of her friend and ally, that assistant coach that was jettisoned by Jolette. Destiny was undoubtedly counting on her presence. Secondly, Jolette's response and approach with Destiny probably was abrasive and "I'll show you who's boss like". Ask Bjork and Crutcher. Thirdly, her teammates and "big sis" Jenna Smith probably didn't welcome her into the fold, counsel her and help smooth over ruffled feathers enough. Destiny being young is no doubt stubborn and pouting from their snubs and Jolette's gestapo treatment. But it has been allowed to go to far and ALL are to blame. It would take big time apologies all around and a love fest to happen to salvage any of this. Bye Destiny! We hardly knew you and never had the privilege of seeing your talent on display for U of I. No doubt it will be in full display for some other lucky college program elsewhere.

Hi Tony. Have you no spoken with Destiny yet? We are all curious to know what happened or if anything really happened. When you talk to anyone that KNOWS her they always say something good. Of course the kid is coachable and follow rules because she would not have took part in the USA thing. Now form prior incidents when a player have done something wrong it is not keep hush hush so....I am kind of thinking that it may not be the kid that is problem HMMMMM. Everyone is assuming what happened but no one really knows, remember this is the most highly decorated kid that have ever come to this program, I am willing to bet that some of the players was very uncomfortable and maybe alitte threaten by the newcomer. What do this say to the our big time recruits, they will second guess this university. I am pretty sure there alot of schools waiting in line to get the "JEWEL" that we could not keep. Maybe the V Stringer is not good for the Illini's but Stringer lost alot also. Just accept the fact that the kid din not like it and wants to go someone else to play, she is not the first and will not be the last.
