Illinois sophomore Jeff Jordan, a former walk-on, has been awarded a scholarship for the spring semester, Bruce Weber said Thursday.

Jordan was not on scholarship during the fall semester. Weber said Jordan has earned a scholarship with his work ethic and his expanded role on the team.

Jordan is averaging 1.3 points in 18 games.

I hope not considering how much grief the Illini Nation has bestowed up Chet. He will go down as one of my fave players ever.

I think he has played well enough to earn this but I am disappointed that his family will accept it. There are so many kids that financially struggle while getting through school and his family obviously can afford to pay his own way.

Sorry, we shouldn't give basketball scholarships to any kid who struggles financially unless he is a good basketball player.
