Troy Gentle's weekly update on the eight players headed Bruce Weber's way and the six players headed Jolette Law's way:
MEN
TRACY ABRAMS (Mount Carmel) - Did it with defense Tuesday night, forcing both a steal and a turnover in the final two minutes of Mount Carmel's 72-59 win against Richards. He finished with 19 points and three steals. The Caravan travels to Hales Franciscan on Friday.
JOSEPH BERTRAND (Sterling) - Since being named to the State Farm Classic All-Tournament team, it's been nothing but practice for the Golden Warriors. They have back-to-back road games against Ottawa Township and Moline on Friday and Saturday.
MEYERS LEONARD (Robinson) - finished with a season-high 28 points, to go with eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots as the Maroons beat Casey-Westfield 69-55 Tuesday. Robinson hosts Olney in a Apollo Conference matchup Friday.
BRANDON PAUL (Warren) - In spite of shooting 38 percent from the floor Tuesday, the Blue Devils beat Libertyville 59-43. Paul led all scorers with 28 points, including a game-ending dunk. A nonconference game at Antioch is next on Friday.
D.J. RICHARDSON (Findlay Prep, Las Vegas, Nev.) - Two more wins for the Pilots, this time at Lexington Christian (Ky.). Richardson contributed six points, two assists, and two steals in a win over New Creation (Ind.), then scored nine points to go with three steals as the Pilots beat Mount Zion (N.C.).
JEREME RICHMOND (Waukegan) - has been resting since the Pontiac Holiday Tournament. The Bulldogs will travel to Niles West on Friday.
CRANDALL HEAD (Crane) - Had 26 points as Crane rolled to a 87-37 Red-West Conference win Tuesday.
TYLER GRIFFEY (Lafayette, Mo.) - The Lancers ended a two-game losing streak Tuesday with a 47-44 conference win against Oakville. Griffey led Lafayette with 19 points, including 8 for 9 from the charity stripe. The 7-5 Lancers battle Kirkwood on Friday night.
WOMEN
ADRIENNE GODBOLD (Marshall) - led the Commandos with 26 points, seven rebounds, and five steals in a 68-44 victory against Buffalo Grove at the City-Suburban Shootout last Saturday. GodBold scored her 1,300th career point in the second quarter. Wednesday saw GodBold add 21 points to her career total in a 80-29 laugher against Clark.
BRIANNA JONES (Toledo Central Catholic, Ohio) - paced Central Catholic with 16 points in a defense-oriented win against Southview last Saturday. Jones made her presence felt Wednesday with a double-double (17 points, 12 rebounds) as the Irish (6-4, 5-0) defeated Scott 63-47.
KERSTEN MAGRUM (Lincoln-Way East) - scored her 1,500th career point Monday as the Griffins upset Fenwick 61-47, only the third time Fenwick has lost at home since the 1999-2000 season. She finished with 22 points. Thanks to a 23-point, 10-rebound effort Wednesday from Kersten, Lincoln-Way East remained undefeated in conference play with a 52-16 blowout of Bradley-Boubonnais.
AMBER MOORE (Detroit Country Day, Mich.) - Country Day travels to Dayton, Ohio, on Saturday to face Chaminade.
KARISMA PENN (Shaker Heights, Ohio) - Although Penn led Shaker Heights with 20 points, Mentor's stall-ball tactics with a late lead was the deciding factor to a 48-47 upset Wednesday. Nonconference foe Waite will be the Raiders' next opponent on Saturday.
DESTINY WILLIAMS (Benton Harbor, Mich.) - Has had 11 days off since losing at the Motor City Roundball Classic.
