LOCH LOMOND, Scotland — Illini men’s golf coach Mike Small and his partners went 0-2 Saturday at the PGA Cup, part of a rough day for the United States against a rallying Great Britain-Ireland team.
After losing five of eight matches, the U.S. will enter the final round today clinging to a 9-7 lead.
In fourball matches on Saturday morning, Small and Ryan Benzel of Tulalip, Wash., lost 2 and 1 to Paul Wesselingh and Jeremy Robinson.
In the afternoon round of foursome matches, Small and Lee Rinker of West Palm Beach, Fla., were defeated 2 and 1 by Andrew Barnett and Jon Bevan.
In Sunday’s singles matches, Small is paired against Robinson.
