Wed, June 18: Illini golfers claim wins

University of Illinois golfers Jacqueline Rubin of Mundelein and Michelle Lin of Edwardsville won in match play Tuesday at the Illinois Women's State Amateur Golf Championship at Mattoon Country Club.

Rubin defeated Lucy Sievers of Lake Forest 2 up, and Lin topped Pam Harnack of Winnetka 2 and 1.

Future Illini golfer Alicia Pascavage, aBismarck-Henning graduate, lost 3 and 2 to Lesley Stracks of Highland Park.

Jillian Sitter of Naperville, another future Illini, defeated Jami Zimmerman of Pittsfield 4 and 2.

Elizabeth Burden of Lake Forest, daughter of former Illini Joe Burden, beat Brenda Fletcher of Farmer City 2 and 1.

Former Illini Karen Karmazin of Inverness defeated Wendy Boyd of Chicago 7 and 6.
