Illinois coach Ron Zook opened his press conference today by wishing News-Gazette columnist a happy birthday. Tate turned 78 today.

One smart-alecky reporter (OK, me), asked Zook: "Are you going to spank him?"

No such luck.

In other news:

-- Zook said he hopes to have tight end Michael Hoomanawanui (ankle) back for the Minnesota game. He expects Arrelious Benn (ankle), A.J. Jenkins (knee) and Donsay Hardeman (neck) to be available.

-- The Big Ten is looking into a punch to Corey Liuget's groin area by a Michigan offensive lineman during Saturday's game. Liuget briefly left the game.

-- Zook said the Illini are continuing to be in a two-quarterback situation. Jacob Charest didn't play against Michigan, but will be ready to go against Minnesota, Zook said.

Honestly, Loren doesn't look a day over 75 :)

Loren,

Just because your birthday cake may be dry, and the icing may be a little rich, it doesn't mean that all of the cards are stacked against you having a great birthday. I would focus on the positive aspects of your birthday. Leave all of the negative stuff for someone else to worry about.

I thought 51 was bad...

Good Zook is talking to Tate after that "letter" last week. I thought your letter was right on, Loren, and Michigan was so bad that UI won...
