Kraig Appleton, considered one of the elite high school receivers in the nation, will make a commitment to Illinois on Tuesday. The East St. Louis star told IliniHQ.com's Jeremy Werner that he plans to sign with Ron Zook's program in February.

Appleton becomes the second Flyer receiver to join the 2009 Illinois class. Earlier, teammate Terry Hawthorne made a commitment to the Illini.

Rivals.com ranks Appleton as the No. 10 receiver in the nation. He is listed as the No. 48 receiver overall. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder caught 59 passes for 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2007.

Besides Illinois, Appleton has offers from LSU, Ohio State and a string of others. Appleton has already accepted an invitation to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
