Bradley Beal announced his commitment to Florida on Monday morning at a press conference at Chaminade High School in St. Louis. Beal, a 6-foot-3 guard, chose the Gators over Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Ohio State.
Illinois, Florida and Kansas were the leaders for most of his recruitment. But Gators coach Billy Donovan, along with incoming recruit Austin Rivers, helped Florida gain the verbal pledge from the top-10 recruit.
Beal kept his recruitment under wraps for the last six months, not telling anyone - including his coaches and friends - who the leader was.
Illinois will transfer its focus to other Class of 2011 wings, including Chasson Randle, Wayne Blackshear, Devin Langford, Dre Henley and Sam Thompson.
