3 days to 2009 opener

You all heard the big news of the day, right? The college football item every fan is talking about?

Kyle Prater, right?

Not at this computer. The news of the day is the renaming of the Motor City Bowl. It will now be the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. Football, football. Here's hoping tickets will be $5 and come in cheese, sausage or pepperoni.

The change is very good news for the Detroit game, which appeared to be in jeopardy with the automaker crisis. it doesn't matter that the name is a bit clunky. Money is money. And the game needed cash to survive.

The Big Ten is in the middle of making future bowl deals. Here's hoping the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl remains in the mix.
