10 days to 2009 opener

Illinois quarterback Juice Williams has made another preseason watch list. This time, it's the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award. Williams joins Penn State's Daryll Clark as the only two Big Ten players on the seniors only list.

Williams is now on three watch lists. Earlier, he was named to both the Manning and Davey O'Brien lists.

What would it take for Williams to win one of the awards? First, a monster season both statistically and in wins and losses. He'd need an off year by some of the greats. And he'd need that defining, televised moment that helps voters make up their minds.

Impossible? No. When folks saw him as a freshman, few would have projected him as the school's future career passing leader. But that's where he's headed.
