No. 20: Utah

Why I like the Utes: You might have caught their act in the Sugar Bowl, where they baffled, confused and mostly outplayed Alabama. That win, that only the Utes thought would happen, adds a huge amount of confidence going into the season. The problem is that quarterback Brian Johnson isn't back for another season. Count on Utah having a talented quarterback ready to go. Three starters back on the line will help. Stevenson Sylvester is one of seven starters back on defense. Kyle Whittingham is a talented coach who gets more out of his team than it seems possible.

Why I don't: Johnson is gone. So are the top running back and receivers. Coming off the undefeated season, the Utes wear a giant target, similar to the one Boise State had after upsetting Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Asking the Utes to go undefeated again is too much. The schedule is nasty, with road trips to Oregon, TCU and BYU. Shouldn't the BCS Buster get seven home games? Not this year.
