No. 2: Arrelious Benn, receiver.

Why he's important: It's a good sign when the school gives you your own section at the front of the spring media guide. Benn is coming off a 67-catch, 1,055-yard sophomore season. He had 54 catches for 676 yards as a freshman, meeting the massive expectations. He earned All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore and is an All-American candidate for the 2009 season. He ranks seventh on the school's career yardage list and eighth in catches. Even if he leaves the NFL after his junior season as many expect, he will finish high on the school's career receiving lists and be considered among the top two or three at the position in school history. Also a talented runner and returner.

Getting personal: One of the most disciplined, motivated players in recent school history. He is careful about his diet and social situations. Has maturity well beyond his years. On his first trip to campus he wowed Illinois coaches with his talents and personality. He surprised many by picking the Illini over Florida State, Maryland and Notre Dame. Credit his mom. Denise Benn, for keeping him level-headed and on task. His dedication allowed him to finish high school early and get a jump on his college career.
